A newsletter about fun & sexy fashions with attitude from VENUS
Brown is “the new black” for fall. The hottest new combos will be brown with teals or corals. Green is huge. Teal is tremendous. Coral is the new pink. Purple makes a comeback. All shades of burgundy are to-dye-for. Yellow signs on as a neutral this season. There’s a mania for metallic.
You’ve just clicked open your first issue of VENUS EXTRA, a newsletter designed for women like you, who look great in and love to wear fun & sexy
fashions with attitude!
We’ll be visiting you four times a year with a confidential “heads up” about what’s hot and what’s not for the next fashion season.
Look for us in July, October, January, and April to talk about what independent fashion designers are predicting for fall, holiday, spring, and summer. And now let’s get down to it for Fall 05.
Metallic fabrics are IT this fall. On the softer side, matte jersey, chiffon, mesh, and poplin are what’s happening after dark (at least for those in the know). Stretch is still there to show off those curves.
Cotton & cords are "must-haves" for
skirts.
Designers say longer is better. Lengths will be from about 19 inches to ankle length. Minis are less important. (Sorry guys!) Prairie
skirts rule the day….and they can hold sway at night, too. The Indian embellishments are also here: all those sequins, beads, and paillette trims. The hottest prints run from geometric to small florals.
Your tummy remains a high point of interest as low-rise continues to capture designers’ imaginations. The jean scene is hot for flares, bootlegs, and wider legs. Denim washes are very today. Look for sequin trim at pockets and belt loops. The Old West is the new big thing: you need a tooled leather belt with a shiny buckle and tip.
Hint: the newer sharkbites will
give you a leg up on the competition.
The scene is still totally whack for uneven hemlines. Asymmetricals are the chic look for the prettiest girls. Halter and tube styles will put you on the business end of many admiring stares. So will spaghetti straps, ruching, ruffled tiers corkscrews, gathered waists and midriffs.

Stretch is the word.Stripes and plaids are on every designer’s mind. The gaucho is back with a new attitude.
Late breaking: corduroy is the new dressy! But look for pin- or midsize wale. Avoid the wider stuff. Fancy back-pocket treatments are new must-haves, especially with embroidery.
Also look for simpler bodies, bareness at the back & shoulder, and slinky fabrics with cool-looking hardware like buckles or nailhead studs. Indian-influenced embellishments are all the rage: think sequins, beads, and paillette trims. Hot, hot, hot are tunics, screen-printed tees, surplice bodies, and baby dolls.

You’ve told us that odd-numbered so-called “junior sizing” has become largely irrelevant to today’s woman-and we’re listening!
So what to do?
You’ve come to expect accurate sizing and a sexy & flattering fit from VENUS. The cup size you prefer in a quality bra is exactly the one to choose in a VENUS swimwear top (A thru DD). The size you generally wear in fashion apparel has always been the one to pick when selecting a VENUS swimwear bottom. And from now on, you can expect the same in VENUS fashion and sportswear apparel.
True-to-Form Contemporary Sizing
In answer to your many suggestions, we’re proud to introduce VENUS True-to-Form Contemporary Sizing. These even-numbered sizes are what other high-quality companies probably call “missy.” But do you like being called missy? We didn’t think so. So we choose to call our sizing “contemporary”, a word that’s as progressive & modern as you.
Going forward with VENUS.
VENUS fashion & sportswear are now exclusively available in contemporary sizes. They are accurately proportioned to fit today’s stronger, better-toned, proportionately larger, fashion-conscious females. Instead of odd-number “juniors”, choose the even number contemporary size that less-enlightened companies still call “missy.”
Here’s what to look for
Nothing has changed for VENUS swimwear. Tops continue in contemporary sizes A thru DD. Bottoms continue in contemporary sizes P (Petite) thru XL (Extra Large). But now look for the perfect fit in VENUS fashion & sportswear this way: Sizes: 2-14 or Sizes: S, M, L.
